We are proud to support Think Humanity in their annual Christmas bed net fundraiser. Think Humanity began giving out Long-Lasting Insecticide-Treated Bed Nets (LLIN) in 2007.
While deciding who would get Christmas nets for 2014, it was our decision to once again give nets to those refugees who have not received new nets for the past 5+ years.
As the need for these life-saving nets continues, we hope you can stand next to us on our malaria-fighting mission again this year. We are asking for your help to replace 3,000 mosquito nets that were given to Congolese and Sudanese refugees six years ago. It is so important to continue to protect these families.
No other organization is replacing mosquito nets in Kyangwali Refugee Camp and the refugees’ hope is in Think Humanity. A young refugee girl once said to me, “The hope should be restored through Think Humanity, because it has put malaria in a mortuary about to be buried soon. Through providing nets, medication and comfort to those who are sick, now malaria will have nowhere to go.” We want to keep that hope alive.
Every day 350 children under the age of five die from malaria in Uganda. Let’s help to change that statistic.
Long-Lasting Insecticide-Treated Bed Nets (LLIN) will last up to five years and, according to the World Health Organization, they are the most cost-effective prevention method against malaria. Four children can fit under each bed net and the mother can be reassured that her children are protected as they sleep.
Each bed net covers 4 children and lasts for 5 years! Help save lives.
