Charity Foundation

Situated along a peaceful waterway, Charity Foundations quality handwoven baskets, placemats and rugs have given them a name. Begun as a research and development site of Mennomite Central Committee, Charity Foundation is a model of excellence in the handicraft market.

Purchased through Prokritee, a fair trade organisation, ( meaning “nature” in Bangladesh), that provides managerial, product design, development and marketing assistance to 8 producer groups/enterprises in Bangladesh. Prokritee and its 8 enterprises provides jobs for poor rural women. The women who work for the enterprises are widows, divorcees or head of households with little or no income. By providing jobs for women, Prokritee is able to improve the women’s standard of living and help them send their children to school.
